Software Engineering Manager, Spatial Window Manager

The Spatial Window Manager team's mission is to deliver a system platform that enables developers to build rich spatial experiences and applications on top of the core Android operating system. As a central component at the heart of the system, SWM interacts at multiple levels with applications - from lifecycle to window management and everything in between.

We are building a system with a rich user experience that combines 2D and 3D elements and are looking for an engineering manager to help us build key functionalities to expand the experience and build APIs and frameworks for internal and external developers.Software Engineering Manager, Spatial Window Manager Responsibilities

• Manage engineering teams by mentoring, empowering their growth, and helping them deliver impact
• Champion engineering and operational experience, establishing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement
• Communicate cross-functionally across various teams, organizations and internal and external stakeholders to drive engineering efforts
• Use in-depth technical understanding and cross-functional relationships to successfully set long and short term directional goals, aspirational engineering goals, and intermediate milestones
• Use influence and cross-functional relationships to drive progress on goals
• Recruit engineers, identifying talent gaps and the people required to fill them
• Create career development plans, manage performance and performance reviews

Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years, or PhD + 4 years, of software engineering work experience, including hands on technical management
• 2+ years of experience in managing a team of engineers of varied skill levels
• BS/Masters in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• Experience leading development teams shipping software products through multiple releases
• Experience supporting, coaching, mentoring, and developing software engineers
• Demonstrated experience recruiting, building, structuring, and leading technical organizations, including performance management
• Experience building a platform that provides generalized functionalities to developers

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience solving complex gameplay and UX problems in 3D interactive products or AAA games
• Experience building in AR/VR on Quest or similar platforms
• Experience with Android development

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
