Software Engineering Manager, Audio

We are the Core Audio team within the Media Foundation (MF) organization who builds the audio technologies used by billions of people around the world in audio/video calling, messaging and entertainment across Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook. We also build the low-latency, reliable audio communication platform and voice enhancements for GenAI (Meta AI voice), Wearables, etc. Our team is a multi-disciplinary group with expertise in digital signal processing, machine learning, GenAI, software architecture and distributed systems, audio and speech compression, and much more.

As a manager and leader in the team, you will play a critical role in supporting a team that builds the core audio algorithms and technologies powering the experiences in most of Meta voice products that are used by billions of people. Join us!Software Engineering Manager, Audio Responsibilities

• Manage audio software and algorithm engineers, help them develop their careers, assign them to projects tailored to their skill levels, long-term skill development, personalities, and work styles
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and other engineering teams. Champion engineering and operational rigor, establishing metrics and process for regular assessment and improvement
• Set clear expectations and create a positive work environment based on accountability, in collaboration with the engineering and management teams
• Work closely with dedicated recruiting staff to expand the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, participating in conferences/events, and on-boarding new employees
• Drive development initiatives that combine DSP and ML audio processing

Minimum Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience managing and recruiting technical teams, including performance management
• 8+ years of experience in software development with C/C++
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 2+ years of experience developing, coaching, and managing engineers

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in audio software development
• Experience in digital signal processing (DSP)
• Experience with machine learning techniques and deep learning models
• Knowledge in audio capture or render algorithms for mobile platforms
• Knowledge in real-time communication (RTC) or GenAI speech/audio is a plus

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
