  • Research, design, develop, build and test security and integrity related software systems and large distributed components that run at Meta.
  • Build new features and improve existing products.
  • Work on problems of high complexity, push code, drive the development of the systems behind Instagram's products, create mobile and web applications that reach billions of people, build high volume servers, and be a part of a team to connect people around the globe.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the relevant product area, codebase, and/or systems.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in data analysis, programming and software engineering.
  • Produce high quality code with good test coverage, using modern abstractions and frameworks.
  • Receiving general instructions on routine work, work independently, use available resources to get unblocked, and complete projects on-schedule by exercising strong judgment and problem solving skills.
  • Master Instagram's development standards from developing to releasing code.
  • Actively seek and give feedback in alignment with Meta's Performance Philosophy.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Software, Computer Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation.
  • Alternatively, the employer will accept 5 years of work experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation as equivalent to the Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience.
  • Any combination of education, training, or experience is accepted.
  • Requires 3 years of experience in the following:
  • 1. Programming experience in either C, C++, Java, C# or other relevant programming languages
  • 2. Building large-scale high performance applications
  • 3. Software development tools: Code editors (i.e. VIM or Emacs), and revision control systems (i.e. Subversion, GIT, or
    Perforce)
  • 4. Designing, analyzing and improving efficiency, scalability, and stability of core backend components
  • 5. Applying advanced algorithms and core computer science concepts and industry standard software/system design
    patterns
  • 6. Conduct design and code reviews
  • 7. Successfully completes projects of large scope while maintaining a consistent high level of productivity
  • 8. Applying advanced understanding and usage of OS commands, file manipulation and shell scripting, AND
  • 9. Data processing and data pipelines.

$229,501/year to $240,240/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
