- Architecting and implementing new features and optimizing existing products with a high degree of complexity.
- Leading and managing large-scope, technically complex projects, ensuring effective cross-team collaboration.
- Taking ownership of complex and ambiguous projects from inception to completion, developing solutions, and breaking them down into well-defined tasks.
- Solving intricate and high-impact problems, pushing code, and driving the development of the systems behind our products.
- Building, owning, and maintaining large-scale infrastructure that serves billions of users.
- Providing mentorship to engineers to help develop their technical skills and career growth.
- Developing a deep understanding of relevant product areas, codebases, and systems.
- Demonstrating advanced proficiency in data analysis, programming, and software engineering.
- Producing high-quality code with comprehensive test coverage, utilizing modern abstractions and frameworks.
- Setting and maintaining high standards for internal development practices, from development to code release.
- Actively seeking and providing feedback in alignment with the company Performance Philosophy.
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or Foreign equivalent degree) in Computer Science, Computer Software, Computer Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, or related field
- Requires completion of a university-level course, research project, internship, or thesis in the following:
- 1. Coding in one of the following industry-standard languages: C, C++, C#, Python, Java, or Javascript
- 2. Python, PHP, or Haskell
- 3. Relational databases and SQL
- 4. Software development tools: Code editors (VIM or Emacs), and revision control systems (Subversion, GIT, or Perforce)
- 5. Linux, UNIX, or other *nix-like OS including file manipulation and simple commands
- 6. Core web technologies: HTML, CSS, or JavaScript
- 7. Building highly-scalable performant solutions
- 8. Distributed systems including sharding, consistency, and availability
- 9. Algorithms
- 10. Data processing, programming languages, databases, computer networks, operating systems, computer graphics, or human-computer interaction
- 11. Designing and completing medium to large software features independently without guidance and
- 12. Experience owning a particular software component, feature, or system.
