Product Design Engineer - Design Systems
At Facebook, Design Engineers solve complex Product Design problems with Engineering skills. - Work closely with engineering partners to ensure the quality and consistency of our design system infrastructure across multiple platforms and frameworks
- Take a proactive, data-driven approach to improving our design system infrastructure through design tokens and theming
- Improve tools and drive quality and craft initiatives in an effort to elevate the look and feel of the Facebook App
- Participate in the full lifecycle of design and development - This includes ideation, prototyping, development, backwards compatibility, failovers, validation, and user research
- Translate static designs (both high-fidelity and wire-frame) into end-to-end, in-app prototypes that can be used in research, critique, reviews with leadership, and public-facing product announcements
- Present work to peers, product teams and executive leadership/stakeholders
- 5+ years of experience shipping software products
- Experience with front-end technologies and prototyping tools, including Origami Studio, Figma, PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, React Native, NodeJS)
- Practical experience of design and user experience principles that spans mobile and desktop browsers and native platforms
- Demonstrated experience with quickly learning new programming languages and tools
- A solid portfolio of things you鈥檝e designed and built across a range of platforms, including native and web-based applications
- Demonstrated expertise working with a specific mobile platform (iOS or Android)
- Experience building a design system that uses tokens and has been through one or more significant system-wide updates
