Product Design Engineer
At Meta Reality Labs we aim to bring together the brightest cross-disciplinary minds in one place to deliver on our mission: build tools that help people feel connected, anytime, anywhere. As a Product Design Engineer, you will take a critical role in developing hardware systems for MR, AR, or New Technology Initiatives. You will become part of a team exploring developing concepts through prototyping and into mass-production consumer electronics. You will work as part of a cross functional team requiring collaboration and curiosity in domains other than mechanical engineering. Our team's focus is mechanical engineering fundamentals, prototyping skills, CAD fluency, manufacturing process knowledge, and experience designing consumer electronics.Product Design Engineer Responsibilities

- Model, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems
- Work across the full product development cycle, from concept inception to shipping product
- Push state-of-the-art technologies and approaches to solving complex mechanical problems while working with cross-functional technical teams
- Design for Manufacturability - Ensure the design is robust and the equipment, process and materials are scalable to ramp
- Collaborate with internal cross functional teams and external industry partners
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials, or Optics Engineering or equivalent industry experience
- 6+ years of product design and development experience in high volume consumer electronics, including complex subsystems and/or full systems ownership
- Experience working with contract manufacturers on process and equipment development for optical assembly
- Testing and analysis experience (FEA, Simulation, Design of Experiments, etc.)
- Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing techniques (stamping, machining, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.)
- Experience performing and designing of experiments (DOEs), tolerance analysis, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), data analysis, Statistical Process Control (SPC) control, Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gauge R&R), root cause investigation, failure analysis, implement corrective action
- Experience with Siemens NX Computer-Aided Design (NX CAD) Experience designing and shipping products with Asia-based supply chain
- Experience and knowledge on Optics and Display
- Experience leading communications with cross-functional partners, fluent English
